Overlooking the Obvious

Overlooking the embarrassingly obvious, we seek the acceptance of those whose worldview is atheistic to the core. We overlook the embarrassingly obvious facts that the original earth, biblically, was without suffering, death, nature’s hostilities, and the problem of evil, all of which are part and parcel of the early earth from an evolutionary perspective with all of the above realities being the result of what the Bible calls “sin.”

War: Only One Common Thread

Even the renown physicist Stephen Hawking, an agnostic at best, chimes in on the basic condition of the human heart.  “The trouble is,” he writes, “our aggressive instincts seem to be encoded in our DNA…unless we can use our intelligence to control our aggression, there is not much chance for the human race.”Overlooking the embarrassingly obvious, we seek the acceptance of those whose worldview is atheistic to the core. We overlook the embarrassingly obvious facts that the original earth, biblically, was without suffering, death, nature’s hostilities, and the problem of evil, all of which are part and parcel of the early earth from an evolutionary perspective with all of the above realities being the result of what the Bible calls “sin.”

Abortion: Modern Man’s Sacred Cow

While these “milestones” of human tragedy mark our calendars, there is another one that we must not forget. January presents us with a “milestone” of sorts. It is one celebrated by many but lamented by others. It is an anniversary that continues to increase the number of dead, perhaps by a million or more year over year with no end in sight. What am I talking about? That’s easy, does the phrase “Roe V. Wade ring a bell?

Wholly Human / Embryonic Stem Cell Research

The next question is basic. If personhood isn’t simultaneous with fertilization, then at what point does it become a living “person.” If you hold to a “delayed personhood” position, then at what point in the gestation period does the unborn become a living “person?”  Does he/she become a person when the heart begins to beat? Does he/she become a person worthy of protection when it begins to move, kick, suck its thumb or feed itself?

What’s Good for the Goose is Good for the Gander

No, I haven't lost my mind; and yes, I have considered the consequences of surrendering free "choice" on the altars of evolutionary ideas. You see, if evolution is really true like your high school biology teacher says it is, then people, as the renowned atheist Richard Dawkins asserts, only "dance to their DNA." With this view, good and evil are reduced to mere human inventions that can change with the tide of public opinion. But hey, we Christians won't let those little bumps in the philosophical road bother us if you don't.
